One of the great things about being in the northern corridor is the ongoing benefits derived from the strong investment by the State Government, Playford Council and the private sector. There are regular announcements and completion of projects both large and small. This ongoing capital investment is placing the north as the preferred destination for work and live. Major projects that might be of interest are:
RAAF boom
The RAAF Base Edinburgh – less than 10 minutes’ drive down the road from Brookmont – is currently undergoing a $500 million investment in infrastructure and technology to accommodate 6000 Defence personnel and civilian contractors who work at the base, and the adjoining Defence Science and Technology Group hub, which is the largest Defence research and development organisation in Australia.
The significant investment in the Edinburgh base is also a huge boost to the South Australian economy and will provide promising career opportunities both today and in the future.
Wellbeing Hub announced
Northern Adelaide’s first Wellbeing Hub has been announced! The Playford Wellbeing Hub will deliver a range of programs and services to support community physical, social and mental health and wellbeing.
The Wellbeing Hub spans across The Precinct, 112 Coventry Rd, and the John McVeity Centre, 182 Peachey Rd, in Smithfield Plains – both just a few minutes’ drive from Brookmont.
Activities will include ‘come and try sports’ at the John McVeity Centre, healthy eating through gardening and cooking programs, open days, art projects and other activities at The Precinct which support social and community connectedness.
